What is a cylindrical load cell?

Cylindrical load cells are force measuring transducers with a cylindrical outline that convert mechanical load into measurable mV signal proportional to the applied force/weight, the output range is normally within -30mV...+30mV which can be further processed and displayed in kg, N or lb. This is achieved by means of strain gauges in a Wheatstone arrangement attached to specially machined spring elements which can be made from aluminum, alloy steel or stainless steel and come in many different structures. Flange style, rocker column and canister type can be collectively referred to as cylindrical load cell which can be found in applications such as weighbridges, force calibration equipment, civil structural testing, product assembly lines, quality inspection and verification, robotics, research and development process, etc.

Cylindrical load cells with flange construction are mostly suitable for measuring compressive and tensile force, while with column or canister structure are primarily intended for compression force measurement. Rated capacities in LCS are available from 1kg to 500ton (10N to 5000kN), miniature version with diameter as small as 10mm, the accuracy of the high-precision version goes up to 0.02% of the full scale. For applications that the standard products do not fit, our engineering and technical team can work closely with customers to deliver fully customized solutions that are reliable, durable and affordable within a short time period.
